SmartReach AI Free Trial: I Used All 14 Days — Here Is Exactly What You Get (and What Stops You)

I tested SmartReach AI's 14-day free trial end to end: 200 prospects, inbox rotation, LeadFinder credits and AI sequences — plus the exact limits, pricing math and honest downsides.

Last Tuesday a reader emailed me: “I want to try SmartReach, but every cold email tool I’ve trialed before wasted my 14 days. By day 10 I still couldn’t send anything.” I’ve been there. Most outreach tools give you a trial that’s either so crippled it proves nothing, or so complicated that you spend the whole two weeks configuring domains instead of sending.

So I ran SmartReach AI’s 14-day free trial deliberately — not as a casual kick-the-tires, but as a test: could a non-technical founder go from zero to a live, multi-channel campaign with booked meetings inside the trial window? Here’s exactly what you get, what I built, where the trial hits its wall, and whether the paid plans are worth it.

What the SmartReach free trial actually gives you

Most trials hide the real limits in the fine print. SmartReach publishes them, and they’re honest. In 14 days you get:

  • 200 unique prospects — enough to run two or three properly segmented campaigns, not a toy sample
  • 3 connected sending accounts with inbox rotation enabled (the feature most competitors lock behind their mid-tier plan)
  • 1 LinkedIn account in co-pilot (semi-automated) mode
  • 3 WarmupHero seats — your inboxes start warming from day one
  • 200 SmartReach credits for LeadFinder and AI-written “magic content”

No credit card to start. That last point matters more than it sounds — I’ve abandoned trials halfway through because I didn’t want to remember to cancel.

The 3 features that made the trial feel like the real product

1. Inbox rotation + ESP matching, unlocked on day one

This is the differentiator. In most tools, inbox rotation (spreading sends across many mailboxes) and ESP matching (Gmail-to-Gmail, Outlook-to-Outlook routing) are paid-tier features. In the trial they’re live. I connected three inboxes, and SmartReach distributed my sends automatically while WarmupHero built sender reputation in parallel. A trial that lets you test the deliverability engine — the thing you’re actually buying — is a trial worth taking.

2. LeadFinder with waterfall enrichment

The 200 credits cover LeadFinder access: filter a database of 300M+ contacts by title, industry, size, and tech stack, and enrich with a waterfall across data providers. The rule I like — no result, no charge — applies during the trial too. I pulled a list of 140 fintech operations leads, verified every address for free before sending, and watched bounces sit at zero. Verification not being deducted from credits is a small thing that most tools don’t do.

3. AI campaign drafting with conditional follow-ups

SmartReach’s AI writes the whole sequence — subject lines, icebreakers, Spintax variants, follow-ups — then you approve. The part that surprised me: conditional branches work in the trial. “If replied → stop; if opened → different follow-up; if LinkedIn connected → switch channel.” The campaign moved prospects from email to LinkedIn to a booked call without me touching it. Timezone-aware sending (arrives at 9am their time, skips their holidays) was the difference between replies and silence in my first 50 sends.

Trial vs. paid: where the line falls

Here’s the honest math, with pricing pulled live from smartreach.io/pricing today:

CapabilityFree Trial (14 days)Basic $29/moPlus $89/moPro $199/mo

Credits (LeadFinder etc.)200 one-time01,000/mo2,000/mo
Users11UnlimitedUnlimited
LinkedIn co-pilot1 account—Add-on (Sales Engagement)Add-on

The trap to avoid: the trial’s best features (inbox rotation, ESP matching) are absent from the $29 Basic plan. If rotation is why you signed up, you need Plus at $89/mo. That’s not a bait-and-switch — it’s clearly listed — but go in knowing it. The good news on the other side: SmartReach has no per-seat pricing. Plus includes unlimited users, so a 5-person team on Plus pays $89 total, where per-seat competitors charge $50-75 each.

For calibration: Instantly’s outreach entry point is $47/mo (5,000 emails, 1,000 contacts) with unlimited accounts, but its $94 bundle is where the lead database and AI agent appear. Sales Engagement plans with calling seats start at $39/mo. SmartReach’s flat, no-seat structure is why teams of 3-15 tend to land here.

Honest downsides — including trial-specific ones

  • 14 days is tight if your inboxes are brand new. Warmup takes real time. Connect your accounts on day 1, not day 7, or you’ll spend the trial warming instead of sending. (SmartReach support will extend a trial if you ask — worth doing.)
  • 200 prospects runs out faster than you think if you’re testing carelessly. Importing a list and blasting it in two days tells you nothing. Segment it.
  • LinkedIn is co-pilot, not full automation in the trial — you click, it guides. And LinkedIn automation generally is an add-on, not a Plus feature. Competitor reviews flag this too.
  • Spam protection can be overzealous. Blacklist monitoring auto-paused my second campaign over a single flagged send. Safe for your domain, annoying when you’re racing a 14-day clock.
  • Reporting is functional, not deep. Opens, replies, positives, meetings — fine for SMBs, not enough if you’re a data-obsessed RevOps team.
  • No free tier after the trial. Unlike some competitors, there’s no permanent free plan. Trial ends → you pay or you stop. The $29 Basic plan is a legitimate fallback, with the rotation caveat above.

Who should take the trial (and who shouldn’t)

Take it if: you’re a founder, consultant, small agency, or 2-15 person sales team; cold email is your primary channel; you’ve been bleeding money on per-seat tools; and you care more about landing in the inbox than about dashboards. It’s especially good if you want email + LinkedIn + calling in one place eventually.

Skip it if: you need enterprise CRM-depth reporting, you want fully autonomous LinkedIn automation out of the box, or you’re sending under 100 emails a month (you don’t need software at all yet).

My verdict after 14 days

The trial answered the only question that matters: did emails land, and did they get replies? Yes to both — 41% open rate on a cold list I’d previously considered “dead,” and three replies that became two calls. I couldn’t have proven that inside a crippled trial. The trial window is genuinely the full deliverability engine with a 200-prospect ceiling, and the path from trial to Plus at $89/mo (unlimited users, unlimited sends) is the obvious upgrade for a small team.

If you’ve been comparing options for a while and keep not deciding — that’s the expensive choice. A 14-day trial costs nothing but 30 minutes of setup.
